Wyatt Rogers - Newborn Session

I've been looking forward to meeting the Rogers family for months now, as Shalynn and Scott were super prepared and booked Wyatt's newborn session back in November. Little Wyatt even made us wait an extra week, arriving a full seven days past his due date. I think it's safe to say he was worth the wait.

Shalynn and Scott's joy as parents (even in the waiting) was simply contagious. I loved receiving messages from Shalynn like "He's here!" and "Heading home from the hospital...can you believe we get to keep him?"

Looking around at Wyatt's gorgeous nursery, I was struck by all the planning and meaningful work that his parents put in to prepare for his arrival. Shalynn envisioned a specific light fixture in the room long before she was even pregnant. Scott used his impressive carpentry skills to build beautiful, hexagonal, wood shelves for the walls. I carefully observed Scott holding his son. He looked down at him with such awe and adoration. His masculine hands (slightly worn from recent construction jobs) in contrast with Wyatt's delicate, unblemished baby skin. I couldn't help but be reminded of the verse from Ephesians 2:10:

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

or I like how the New Living Translation says it:

"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

As we ooh and ahh over Wyatt's perfect little fingers and toes, fluttering eyelashes and adorable ears, let us be reminded that he is God's MASTERPIECE. I can't wait to see how God continues to use his life in a mighty way.

Many thanks to the Rogers family for entrusting me to document such a significant family milestone.
